AIR CONDITIONING
The need for air conditioning is essential for living here in Spain and Portugal.
The benefit of having some relief from the hot humid evenings is a must during the summer. Free standing fans are ok but all they do is push warm air around. The winters here can also be very cold believe it or not and you will need to buy some form of heating if there is no Air conditioning installed. The units we supply offer Cool Air, Warm Air and can act as a dehumidifier during periods of non occupation. If you are choosing to let your property normally the first question asked by potential renters is "has the property any air conditioning?" and if the answer is no it can sometimes deter clients from booking your property.
INSTALLATION
Prior to the fitting of air conditioning you will have to discover the following:-
- Has your property been pre installed with any nessessary plumbing for air conditioning
- If yes, what is the type of system fitted ducted or plumbed.
- Ducted: You will notice there are air vents placed around the property near or in the ceiling. If it is ducted you will require an external machine and one or more internal units that are normally hidden in false ceiling areas such as bathrooms or utility rooms. The machines push the air through these vents and are normally programed via a remote control
- Pre Plumbed To discover if your property is pre plumbed you should look near the top of the wall in bedrooms and lounge areas for a flat panel/cover about 40cm x 15cm ( this can be painted over ) do not be confused with smaller flat covers (15 x 15cm) which are electrical inspection covers. The larger covers nomally indicate that the builder has pre plumbed the property and this is where the fan units are to be positioned. Behind these covers are the nessessary pipeworks and electrics. You will then need to discover where the external machine goes. Again look around outside for a 40cm x 15cm cover normally on patio areas, balconies or roof terraces. If you have an apartment it is not uncommon for the external unit to be plumbed to the roof area. You may need to gain permission to access this area for inspection purposes. A good tip is to check other properties close by and see if any external units are visible. With this type of system each room has its own remote control where you can set its temprature
- Nothing: If your property has not been plumbed or vented then an inspection is highly recomended to gain advice on how the plumbing and positioning of the machines could be installed.
